After the chilling success of Nosferatu, Bill Skarsgard dives into another thrilling ride with high stakes that would never let to leave your seats. And this time, it’s Hannibal Lecter himself taking the stage. The proverb here stands true: “All that glitters is not gold”.
Bill Skarsgard is Locked in David Yarovesky’s directed thriller, which is a one-location flick. The trailer gave a Jigsaw-style narrative where Skarsgard is seen struggling to get out of the vile car that is owned by Hopkins.
Locked film plot
The film is an American remake of the Argentinian movie ‘4×4’, released in 2019. As per Rolling Stone, the movie was earlier remade as a Brazilian movie, A Jaula, in 2022. The trailer shows Eddie (played by Bill Skarsgard), a low-grade thief who is mesmerized by luxury cars and finds unlocked ones.
As soon as he gets in this wrong vehicle, he does not know what is up next. He locks himself in. Now, Anthony Hopkins, who plays William, gets the chance to actually show off his lavish car.
He traps Eddie and teases him with cutting-edge and fiendish features of the high-tech car, which he is unable to escape. There are bulletproof walls, a cellular jammer, and self-driving abilities, and that too, at a fast speed, where Eddie finds himself helpless.
The trailer reveals Count Orlok vibes, this time, with William’s role played by Anthony Hopkins. The most intriguing trailer reveal sets the tone of the movie, which grips the audience instantly.
After Oscar-winning The Silence of the Lambs, the villainous feel of Anthony Hopkins’ William is again revived in the upcoming movie. It is sheer proof that Hopkins has the flawless adeptness to play layered characters while still remaining charming as well as disturbing.
The trailer is released via Paramount. Have a look:
Locked poster just got released
Locked just came out with a poster, and it tells a story in itself. The poster demonstrates the two main leads, Bill Skarsgard and Anthony Hopkins, along with a car that shows a hand.
The hand clearly reveals the trapped Eddie in the grandeur vehicle that we were just talking about. The down-on-his-luck thief has to find a way out, and the poster shows how desperate Eddie is.
As the car proves cruel enough and does not want to spare the low-level thief so easily, the car-based torture swears to continue, and the end would only be unveiled when the film gets its premiere.

How does David Yarovesky’s directive style make sense with Locked?
David Yarovesky is a horror fan himself. In his interview with Fangoria, he disclosed that during his childhood, he was bullied for being different. He loved horror stories and even had an interest in telling them.
He was deemed different as he was usually found wearing a Freddy Krueger t-shirt and was not like other kids, he revealed. On the release of his movie Nightbooks (2021), he gave a relatable message that was noteworthy:
“Stick to your passion. Your passion for these things is a sort of magic; don’t let the world stomp it out of you.”
Moreover, while he was filming for Locked, he couldn’t praise enough working with Bill Skarsgard and Anthony Hopkins. While spilling beans to Entertainment Weekly, Yarovesky said that both of them are “greatest living actors” and are considered “some of the most iconic villains of all time”.
The expression stands true after Bill Skarsgard marked his spot in the villain world with his ineradicable roles of Pennywise in It (2017), It: Chapter Two (2019), and Count Orlok in Nosferatu (2024).
Anthony Hopkins has played several grueling antagonist roles in Hannibal (2001), Red Dragon (2002), and The Father (2020).
Why Bill Skarsgard Is Locked? Is it the next big thriller to watch?
The film is set to be released on March 21, 2025, via The Avenue. The trailer has already generated quite a stir among the viewers, and they can’t wait to watch him play his next exciting role.
One of the comments under Youtube trailer explained that Bill keeps choosing some of the most fascinating roles, which add to his versatility and might earn him an Oscar nomination one day.
Another comical comment said, “Pennywise trapped in Hannibal Lecter’s car.”
Fan expectations are high, especially after what Bill Skarsgard did in Nosferatu and what Anthony Hopkins has always been doing in his greatest antagonist roles.
What makes Anthony Hopkins’ villain in Locked stand out?
Can this movie surpass his role in The Silence of the Lambs? It’s hard to speculate at such an early stage. It would be better to set some prospects after an initial screening, whose date and time have not been communicated yet.
Coming back to Locked’s trailer, it is presumed that much of the movie will only reveal Anthony Hopkins’ voice, which will solely create terror. However, the trailer does give a glimpse at the end that an encounter is expected between the two lead actors.
It would be captivating to see how the whole movie would be carried on the shoulders of Anthony Hopkins’ intimidating voice. It is predicted that his voice will play a vile role in a major part of the film, which would be a new way of watching heist movies with an ultimate scare factor for the carjackers.
