The decades-long Jurassic Park franchise was expected to “bring it on!” and make a statement that should have been unforgettable. But sadly, that is not the case.
Here is our version of Jurassic World Rebirth review. It will help you decide if you should rush to cinemas. You need to consider whether you want to watch that T-rex wreak havoc on screen or give it a miss.
Jurassic World: Rebirth (2025)
Plot details of Jurassic World: Rebirth (2025)
The film is set five years after the events of Jurassic World: Dominion (2022). Dinosaurs found it difficult to stay on planet Earth. The planet’s ecology was inhospitable.
The scientists need samples of the three largest dinosaurs in order to make a life-saving drug for the future of mankind, and thus, a team is formed to commence their journey to the island.
It involves Zora Bennett (played by Scarlett Johansson), who is the leader of the covert operations team. They met the Delgado family, who were found in trouble when some monstrous whales tried to attack them.
Zora and her team saved them, but they don’t want to go to the island. However, one of the team members is stubborn and does not want the rescued family to create any hindrance in their mission to collect samples.
I would not spoil more here and leave you with the trailer to watch:
Actors’ performances in Jurassic World: Rebirth
The three actors whose performances stood out to me were Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey (who played the character of Dr. Henry Loomis), and Mahershala Ali (who played the role of Duncan Kincaid).
Scarlett Johansson as Zora is a mercenary leader of the team who is motivated to get the samples, but does care for the safety of her team members. Although she was helpless to save some of her team members who died after the dinosaurs attacked, she made sure to stay positive.
She is a good-hearted person and a loyal friend. Despite witnessing several losses during her career in the military and private security, she maintains a sparkle in her personality.
Jonathan Bailey as Dr. Loomy is a scientific expert on the expedition. He is sometimes seen nervous, but is found in deep awe when he first sees the huge vegetarian dinosaurs in the open fields. It seems as if he respects nature to its fullest and makes the most of that moment.
Mahershala Ali as Duncan Kincaid is love! He is Zora’s friend, and that is why the film has an emotional yet exciting ending when we see him alive after deliberately attracting the biggest dinosaur at the abandoned labs to save his friends and let them escape.
What do critics add to the Jurassic World Rebirth review?
The critics’ consensus on Rotten Tomatoes does not approve much of Jurassic World: Rebirth, as it says,
“Going back to basics with rip-roaring set pieces and fossilized clichés, Jurassic World Rebirth doesn’t evolve this prehistoric franchise but does restore some of its most reliable DNA.” [Source]
Most of the critics were of the view that the story could have been better since a major part of the film appeared as an “irritating sameness.” They felt that it did not live up to its title, as the word “rebirth” should have been bigger and better, and the dinosaurs could have been ‘badder’.
It was a soul-lacking experience for them, and it was a shame that a film worthy of a cinematic watch did not make an impressive comeback.
Fans reaction
Fans were okay with the film but not really happy. Considering the inclusion of an impressive cast, the trailer gave the audience some hype, but it didn’t meet their expectations.
One of the audience reviews cited, “not funny, only a few exciting moments,” which is a clear depiction that they didn’t want to be messed around and shouldn’t have taken the film as a joke.
Is it worth watching?
Not really… You can easily give it a miss for now. Or you can plan to watch it online once it comes to any streaming platform. No need to spend any ticket money.
For the sake of Scarlett Johansson, you can give it a try. Or if you are a big-time lover of CGI dinosaurs. Or even to revive your childhood nostalgia, but for the rest of the elements, the film is nothing extraordinary.
Directed by Gareth Edwards, the film attempts to revive the spirit of the Jurassic Park franchise, but it needs more work. Edwards tried to bring in an emotional tone with visually enriching scenes, but needs work on character development and storyline.

I mean, I know I am writing this review quite late and watched the film two weeks ago, but it is easily forgettable. I don’t really remember which scene led to which, and how the story was progressing by keeping the pace extremely thrilling. But no no, I don’t remember any of this.
AHA! Except for that little dino that wanted to be the child’s friend from the Delgado family. I was expecting more from him, and even thought he would probably be of some help to the girl. But couldn’t see much, and that’s a bummer.
What we liked
- Scarlett Johansson’s performance
- Mahershala Ali’s character arc
- Jonathan Bailey’s subtlety
- Visually but mildly impressive dinosaurs
- Nostalgic elements
What could be better
- Weak storyline
- Underused characters
- Average pacing
- Forgettable experience
Our rating: 5.5
