The Now You See Me franchise has never stopped mesmerizing us with its unstoppable tricks. Lionsgate has lined up several film releases this year, and Now You See Me, Now You Dont is one of them. The trailer is out for the third installment, also known as Now You See Me 3.
The third part is coming back to the screens after almost a decade. Now You See Me 2 was released in 2016, and it’s been nine long years since we have yearned to see those tricks again.
Plot details of Now You See Me Now You Dont
The first look of the film was revealed at CinemaCon this year. The official synopsis of the film indicates that new recruits, the thieving illusionists, are brought on deck by one of the characters from the previous movies, J. Daniel (played by Jesse Eisenberg). They are after a heart diamond for which they hire three new people.
They are ready to put on the greatest magic show again and steal the heart diamond, for which Rosamund Pike seems to be the main antagonist and plays a prominent role in the film. The other three horsemen return from the previous films as well. They are:
- Merritt McKinney, played by Woody Harrelson
- Jack Wilder, played by Dave Franco
- Henley Reeves, played by Isla Fisher
More returning characters are seen in the trailer, which are Dylan Rhodes (Mark Ruffalo) and Thaddeus Bradley (Morgan Freeman). The four new recruits are Ariana Greenblatt, Dominic Sessa, and Justice Smith.
Despite the confirmed return of Mark Ruffalo’s character as Dylan Rhodes (the detective-turned-magician), he is missing from the trailer. It is a possibility that his role is quite diminished or could appear in a cameo. He is an eminent part of the franchise, and with the most daring heist of the franchise yet, he is nowhere to be seen.
The trailer says that “In the world of magic, everything that disappears reappears”. And here we are with the trailer of Now You See Me, Now You Don’t.
Director’s vision for the film and his effect on the stars’ performance
Ruben Fleischer will helm the film this time, and the fourth film is already in the works, which is anticipated will also be directed by Fleischer. Lionsgate Chairperson, Adan Fogelson, was happy with the third part’s director’s cut and allowed Fleischer to continue with the fourth part as well.

Fleischer was excited for the film when he was first tapped to take the honors of directing it. He found it as much “fun” in making this movie as compared to the rest of the films of his career.
In fact, he disclosed that he was able to work on two of his most favorite things: heist movies and magic. Working with the prominent cast members was another level of experience for him, he confessed.
Fleischer is one director who is given a second chance to take the reins of the franchise’s third and fourth installments. He would have a better chance to connect deeply with the cast members and guide them about their roles in the next part as well.
The fourth installment is already in the writing/development phase, which means there is a possibility that many cast members might be able to reprise their roles once again.
He has the opportunity and more time to work with them, which will help build relationships. It makes it easier for the cast to gel with the set’s atmosphere and feel comfortable with the director.
An added benefit of this bonding is that the director makes the most difficult scenes look as simple as ABCs. The sense of familiarity and collaboration leads to stronger performances and better cohesion regarding on-screen dynamics that add to the pure magic of the next magical installment of Now You See Me.
Now You See Me 4 was announced at CinemaCon, which implies the director’s shared experience with the cast fostering a positive work environment and favorably impacting the overall quality of the film. So, we can expect a better and superior version of Now You See Me next film, even more glorious than this one.
