The core idea of raw physical strength isn’t the highest measure of power, but the strongest Marvel characters are now deemed those who can manipulate time, space, reality, and fundamental forces of the universe according to their liking. 

Though Thor, Hulk, and Spider-Man are some of the loved superheroes in the Marvel universe, Movie Insiderz has compiled a list of exclusively the strongest Marvel characters who could wreak havoc with their reality-bending abilities that can alter time and space, create or erase universes, change life and death, or even reshape existence itself.

Doctor Doom

Doctor Doom (Victor Von Doom) does not have special powers from birth. Rather, his powers come from genius intellect, mastery of the mystic arts, and high-tech armor. The arcane sorcery and mind-swapping techniques, combined with his indomitable will, make him mostly immune to psychic probing and control from powerful telepaths.

Even surpassing Doctor Strange’s magical abilities to wield the powers of the Darkhold, an ancient evil Book of the Damned whose readers are corrupted upon reading by its powerful dark magic. He was empowered to the extent that he could be deemed the royal sorcerer, harnessed with a never-before-seen spell to not only break through the Darkforce but also cure the vampire of their weakness to the sun.  

In the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday (2026), he seems to be the ultimate threat to all of humanity as heroes from three distinct universes have to come together to defeat him, revealing his colossal existential death knell due to a universal collision. 

Doctor Strange

One of the most powerful known sorcerers of the Marvel Universe, who initially embarked on a search for treatment of his injuries caused by a car accident that ruined his career as a neurosurgeon. Instead, he discovered the home of sorcerers, Kamar-Taj, which becomes his home of mentorship. 

Time travel, teleportation, astral projection, levitation, and dimensional travelling are all part of his supernatural abilities that have helped him against threats to humanity’s existence. He can explore possible futures and reverse events to find solutions to challenges that other traditional heroes might not have been able to do without him on their side. For example, he assisted Spider-Man in No Way Home (2021) to save reality from collapsing and cast a new spell, making the entire world forget Spider-Man, even his closest friends, MJ and Ned.   

Sentry

Bob Reynolds, or Sentry, is also considered an immensely powerful character in the Marvel-verse whose abilities stem from an experimental super-soldier serum. His telekinesis, flight, and superhuman strength allow him the power of a million exploding suns, granting near-limitless physical strength to manipulate energy and harrowing memories. 

In his recent appearance in Thunderbolts* (2025), Sentry became uncontrollable when combined with emotional instability. The film offers a contrast between his gentle, human side and the overwhelming cosmic force. His power alone could create a shift in balance in the entire Marvel universe as soon as he unleashed the devastating energy of distorting matter. 

Scarlet Witch

Wanda Maximoff, aka Scarlet Witch, is an interesting character in terms of her distinct comic and film adaptations that give her unique origins. She possesses the power to change the future, which she gained through a combination of innate latent magic, the manipulation of the Mind Stone, and the ancient cosmic force known as Chaos Magic.  

Her most explicit evidence of such power was seen in WandaVision (2021) and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022). She was driven insane by the dark magic book, the Darkhold, and became a corrupted mother who hunts a young girl by jumping across the universes, steals her powers, and lives with her imaginary children in an alternate reality. 

With her dreamwalking ability, she could project her consciousness into alternate versions of herself across the multiverse, demonstrating she is not limited by boundaries. Reshaping reality according to her will is one of the deadliest powers that makes her one of the strongest Marvel characters to date.  

Molecule Man

Owen Reece, aka Molecule Man, was initially a lowly lab technician who was trying to fix an atomic-powered device one day, but its aftermath transformed him into something else. Controlling molecules became a piece of cake for him, giving him the power to practically control anything.

Marvel’s strongest characters are always fueled by grief or unfulfilled desires that double their powers. The same happened with the Molecule Man, whose first instinct was to take over the world, but his powers were hampered by some psychological issues stemming from his relationship with his mother. 

He was connected to Beyonders: a nigh-omnipotent race of extra-multiversal beings also known as the Ivory Kings or Omegas. When the Molecule Man found that Beyonders had manipulated events surrounding his origin, he instantly wanted to take over Beyonders’ plan, possibly leading to a catastrophic force capable of triggering universal destruction. 

He has never appeared in any Marvel films but worked alongside Doctor Strange to thwart Beyonders’ plan in Marvel comics.  

The Phoenix Force

The Phoenix Force is one of the oldest and most feared entities in the Marvel universe, which seeks out exceptional hosts, most frequently Jean Grey, to experience the physical world. It is believed to predate darkness and the creation of the universe. It is the custodian of the creation, as it was birthed before the universe itself; hence, it is responsible for driving evolution and the spark of life.  

The cycle of birth and death is controlled by the Phoenix Force. And when needed, it burns away the stagnant or broken cycle, allowing the universe to renew itself. Its connection to Jean Grey depicts how overwhelming its abilities can become. Jean gains control over cosmic energy, including telepathy, telekinesis, matter manipulation, and the ability to alter reality.

With this, the Phoenix Force automatically becomes one of the strongest Marvel characters, as its psionic powers are on a completely different scale. It has appeared in the X-Men franchise, notably X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) and Dark Phoenix (2019).     

The One-Above-All 

The One-Above-All is one of Marvel’s most formidable forces, as he is the literal supreme creator of the multiverse and an omnipotent ruler, as per Slash Film. He created the entire Marvel Omniverse, meaning every single cosmic entity and hero answers to him. 

What is his deadly power? He simply wills things into existence, alters reality, or fixes fractured universes effortlessly. Even the Phoenix Force operates within the reality that OAA created. There is no other character capable of surpassing or defeating it since it exists beyond space, time, life, death, and every universal law. 

The OAA has not appeared in any Marvel Studios film or live-action Marvel movie. The character has remained exclusive to the comics and is often used sparingly because of its supreme status in Marvel’s mythology. Many fans speculate that if it ever does appear, it would likely be in a story centered on the multiverse or the creation of reality itself.
