The sixth film in the Evil Dead franchise is coming this summer to scare the hell out of us! Sebastian Vanicek will be directing this installment after the massive success of Evil Dead Rise (2023), helmed by Lee Cronin.

Evil Dead Burn teaser and its plot synopsis have just been released. And one thing is for sure: the franchise isn’t easing up on its signature gore and nonstop Deadite terror.

Plot details of Evil Dead Burn (2026)

The demonic mayhem continues as the official synopsis unfolds the story details, confirmed by Bloody Disgusting:

A woman seeks solace at her in-laws’ house after the death of her husband. She is unaware of the impending carnage as one by one, all of them are transformed into Deadites. The family reunion becomes a nightmarish encounter, and she understands that the vows she made in life still persist after death.

It’s still unclear what these vows refer to—whether they are hers or tied to the Deadites. We’ll probably get more answers in the final trailer. Meanwhile, watch the horror-filled teaser here:

From Evil Dead Rise to Evil Dead Wrath: Inside the franchise’s expanding future plans

The Infested (2023) director stated earlier that he asked the franchise owners to make this film as “nasty” as possible. He believes that a horror franchise is a “creative playground” for the filmmakers, as they can come up with a plethora of raw and wild ideas to play with.

Infested gained an impressive 95 percent Rotten Tomatoes critics’ score, and Vanicek wants the same for Evil Dead Burn. He aims to instill a fear that makes them “physically drained” after coming out of the theaters.

Keeping this in mind, the casting has been done cleverly, especially with Souheila Yacoub on board. She is a professional athlete, and the twisting and turning of her body to bring a visceral presence on screen will be the cherry on top. There is no doubt that the film will be intensely terrifying, as Vanicek promised.

It’s true that the original trilogy was directed by the same filmmaker, Sam Raimi, but the series saw new directors from 2013 onward. Fede Álvarez directed the 2013 installment, and a decade later, Evil Dead Rise was helmed by Lee Cronin, who is also generating buzz for his recent release, The Mummy.

Evil Dead Wrath will reportedly be directed by a new filmmaker, Francis Galluppi, best known for the 2023 crime thriller The Last Stop in Yuma County. Lee Cronin has suggested that if Sam Raimi agrees, there could even be discussions about a crossover approach, allowing different directors to expand the franchise in varied directions rather than strictly through sequels. He has also hinted at ideas for four additional installments, with Evil Dead Rise potentially ending in a way that loops back to the beginning, creating a structure that could support future stories in multiple directions.

Is the Evil Dead Burn teaser different from CinemaCon clip?

Yes, the attendees of CinemaCon 2026 revealed that the first look of Evil Dead Burn started with a mother unloading a dishwasher full of sharp silverware, as per Variety. They went on to explain that the woman hears a knock on the door and finds an undead corpse upon answering. The clip shows other gory details like chopped-off fingers and a skull that drops on the floor.

A car crash is depicted in which a girl’s fingers are caught in a closing door, slicing them brutally. The scene shifts back to the house, where the walking corpse pushes the boy into the dishwasher, and the cutlery pierces through his body. All these grisly details are not seen in the official first teaser of Evil Dead Burn, just released online.

The teaser only shows one continuous shot in which a girl is dragging herself across the floor as bodies are thrown across the room by the Deadites. Although the teaser is quite short, it gives enough substance to keep our appetite alive till the final trailer and feature drop.

When is Evil Dead Burn (2026) releasing?

It will be followed by Evil Dead Wrath, in theaters on April 7, 2028.
