The Batman Part 2 cast and character guide: Who’s playing who

According to The Hollywood Reporter, these are the confirmed cast members for The Batman Part 2. Have a look at what roles they are all playing:

Robert Pattinson as Batman

Robert Pattinson would reprise his role as Bruce Wayne. He portrayed a different version from the traditional Batman. Reeves’ Batman was inexperienced, consumed by his mission, and convinced that vengeance was the best way to protect Gotham. But by the end of the first film, Pattinson’s Batman understood that he needs to become a symbol of hope, which could be important for his role in Part II. Bruce should be entering the next stage of his Batman journey, having learned the limitations of the angry, isolated vigilante persona he adopted early in his career.

Sebastian Stan as Harvey Dent (District Attorney/Two-Face)

Sebastian Stan is confirmed to play Harvey Dent in Reeves’ next installment of The Batman. Harvey Dent is one of the most important characters in Batman’s mythology because he represents Gotham’s legal system before becoming Batman’s notorious enemy, Two-Face.

Traditionally, Harvey becomes Two-Face after suffering horrific injuries to one side of his face, but it is still not confirmed whether it will be shown in the film. His signature coin serves as the basis for his twisted version of justice and as an effective embodiment of the lawful counterpart to Batman.

Scarlett Johansson as Gilda Dent

Scarlett Johansson is set to play Gilda Dent, Harvey Dent’s wife. She is a particularly interesting addition because she could give the film an emotional connection to Harvey Dent’s eventual transformation into Two-Face.

In Batman comics, Gilda is closely associated with her husband’s tragic descent from Gotham’s idealistic District Attorney into Two-Face. There is no confirmation on which side of Gilda’s comic book story Reeves is adapting into his film. Johansson’s casting suggests that Harvey Dent’s story may have a significant personal component rather than merely introducing him as another Batman villain.

Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon

Jeffrey Wright is returning as Jim Gordon. He played the same role in the 2022 film, where he portrayed a trustworthy, principled, and willing-to-work-with-Batman sort of person in the GCPD.

Gordon was a police lieutenant who became Batman’s close ally within the police department. Wright’s Gordon doesn’t simply treat Batman as a dangerous vigilante but recognizes him as a useful help in solving cases that the GCPD can’t handle on its own.

Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth

Bruce Wayne’s trusted butler, Alfred Pennyworth, is reprised by Andy Serkis in The Batman Part II. He is Batman’s guardian and mentor, and his role could be more crucial than before since Reeves confirmed that the second part would focus more on Bruce Wayne.

Alfred and Bruce’s relationship became complicated in the first part since Bruce blamed Alfred for keeping secrets about his parents and their connection to Carmine Falcone. Their confrontation revealed just how damaged their relationship had become. By the end of the film, they had started to reconcile, though. No confirmation for an Alfred-specific storyline has been announced, as the sequel’s story is still being kept under wraps.

Colin Farrell as the Penguin

Despite a very small role in the film, Colin Farrell is returning as Oz Cobb, better known as the Penguin, in Reeves’ next chapter. He played the same role in HBO crime-drama series The Penguin (2024), for which he won a Golden Globe award for Best Actor.

The biggest thing to understand about Farrel’s role in The Barman Part II is that audiences have already seen Oz’s transformation in the HBO series. His few scenes and limited information could become important as the background has already been set.

Jayme Lawson as Gotham City Mayor Bella Reál

Jayme Lawson is playing the newly elected mayor of Gotham City, Bella Reál. She was introduced as a reform-minded mayoral candidate in the 2022 film. The next film would have moved from her campaigning to actually governing a city devastated by corruption, crime, and the Riddler’s attack.

Gil Perez-Abraham as Officer Martinez

Gil Perez-Abraham is also among the returning cast members for the second part. He would be playing Officer Martinez, the young GCPD officer who initially had a skeptical attitude toward Batman. He didn’t want Batman interfering with the murder investigation, but his attitude changed as the investigation progressed.

His return suggests that Batman has made genuine progress with GCPD and that Batman can actually earn the trust of ordinary police officers.

Sebastian Koch

Koch’s role in The Batman Part II remains unconfirmed, with director Matt Reeves only announcing his addition to the cast on social media without revealing his character.

Brian Tyree Henry

Henry is confirmed to be part of the film as well, but his character has not been officially disclosed by Warner Bros. or Reeves.
