Final Destination: Bloodlines’ directors, Adam B. Stein and Zach Lipovsky, debuted their New Line Cinema film, which was an instant global hit. The film earned $286 million globally against a production budget of $50 million. The franchise reboot also maintained its number one spot at the worldwide box office.

At CinemaCon 2026, Variety reported that Warner Bros. announced Final Destination 7 is in the works. Warner Bros. is currently being sold to Paramount Skydance, which could change production timelines. However, the Paramount CEO has pledged to release 30 films a year, implying they need more content to fill the year’s theatrical slates.

The upcoming seventh installment will be written by Lor Evans Taylor, who also co-wrote Bloodlines. This is fantastic news for the fans, especially after the success of Bloodlines

Final Destination 7 is in the works: What will the story be about?

No official plot synopsis for Final Destination 7 is present at the moment, but speculations have been circulating over the internet about the possible storylines for the next part. The basic spine of the Final Destination franchise is the “death timeline.” Every story isn’t about people dying, but someone who escapes death from a prewritten sequence of fatalities and then death itself stepping in to correct the timeline.

As soon as the timeline gets disrupted, a character experiences a premonition of a catastrophic event, like a plane explosion or highway pileup. However, the main aim for Final Destination 7 should be to make the audience feel surprised again by something they already thought they understood, just like Bloodlines reinvented smartly.

We have come up with our list of possible directions for Final Destination 7, which could build the next story on. Have a look:

  • The plot could incorporate something more contemporary, such as a smart city malfunction or an AI-controlled infrastructure failure.
  • A connected universe storyline where all the past survivors could come together. They could be part of a larger design that the death is planning to get its hands on. The death will plan its “cleaning” in one final sequence. Though no one has rarely survived, Kimberley Corman and Officer Thomas Burke from Final Destination 2 (2003) could be included in the story.
  • A third possibility for a new storyline could include digging deeper into the psychological angle of death. The likely victims might begin to question whether they are causing the chain reaction themselves, blurring the line between fate and self-fulfilling prophecy.

It should also be noted that death doesn’t just want everyone to die; it wants them to die in a specific order. It behaves more like a system, and when the system gets upset, death begins to reconstruct the original order, targeting survivors one by one in the sequences they were “meant” to die.

Dying or surviving is not the main essence of this franchise—timing is. Timing could be taken as the focal point for Final Destination 7, as death likes to reshuffle and come back around with more force. Survivors cannot outsmart the timelines, though there could be temporary disruptions, but not true escapes.
