Joe and Anthony Russo, aka The Russo Brothers, and the most-awaited film of the year, just released its first full trailer. The Avengers Doomsday trailer is here with shocks and surprises, and gives us the reason to believe that it will be bigger with a better “bang” this time.

The official synopsis on Rotten Tomatoes reveals that the final chapter brings “beloved heroes from three distinct universes,” claiming that the threat they are going to face is colossal enough to unite them before the universal collision happens. The beginning of the Multiverse Saga is facing an ultimate “existential threat,” aiming to “lay the foundation for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”

Have a look at the trailer here:

What do we see in the Avengers Doomsday trailer?

The Avengers: Doomsday trailer opens with a battered sign that reads “Xavier’s School of Gifted Youngsters.” Professor X (played by Patrick Stewart) shields his eyes from an unnatural, bright light from the sky with a narration at the back, “Something is coming. Something we may not be able to deter.”

The trailer goes on to reveal faces of the cast as they come together to make an “unthinkable decision” for impending destruction, which is far greater than what they have faced in their earlier battles. Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Fantastic Four (Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/the Thing, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/the Human Torch), Sam Wilson/Captain America (Anthony Mackie), Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Scott Lang/Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Ava Starr/Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), John Walker/U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), Red Guardian (David Harbour), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Falcon (Danny Ramirez), Cyclops (James Marsden), Loki (Tom Hiddleston), Mystique (Rebecca Romijn), Magneto (Ian McKellen), and Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton) are included in the trailer.

Thor and Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers reunite

This is one of the highlighted details of the trailer that the internet cannot stop talking about. Thor is clearly shocked to see Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers back when he calls out to him, “Hey pal.”

Thor replies, “It’s not possible,” since Steve Rogers was seen retiring from the superhero life at the end of Avengers: Endgame (2019) after returning the Infinity Stones and choosing to remain in the past with Peggy. This detail was confirmed in the previously released teaser for Doomsday, in which Captain America returned home and picked up his baby, indicating that he is now a dad.

Thor’s surprise is confirmed by the fact that Mjolnir flies to Steve Rogers’ outstretched hand, a moment shown in Endgame, where Captain America proved that he is worthy of summoning Mjolnir to him. It also confirms that he is the real Steve Rogers who came back to fight Doctor Doom rather than a clone or duplicate.

Now that Steve Rogers is a father, the stakes are even higher in Doctor Doom’s fight. He probably needed a vacation before he came back stronger to protect their families. The story seems to be more than just saving the world, as the themes of family and parenthood were already foreshadowed in the teasers

What does the Avengers: Doomsday poster reveal?

The Avengers: Doomsday poster shows the cloaked figure of Doctor Doom from behind, holding his mask in one hand. He is standing in front of a towering tapestry with light shining on two conspicuous figures: a woman and a child.

These two figures are encircled by clouds, which implies they are in heaven now, and Doctor Doom is seen seemingly mourning their absence. While standing on the stairs, it suggests that Doom might be present in his castle in Latveria, as per IGN. This grievance might have fueled his revenge, which has fans speculating that he lost his wife and child as a result of Steve Rogers’ past multiversal wanderings.

At the end of Endgame, Captain America undertook one last mission to return the Infinity Stones to the previous places in time. But the Ancient One warned that such meddling might come with serious consequences.

It could only be revealed once the film is released to show that Captain America’s actions caused havoc in Doctor Doom’s life and why he is back to get the furious revenge that no one could have ever expected in their lives.
