The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) refers to the Avengers as the “Earth’s mightiest heroes” who have become true heroes in the eyes of viewers with every movie. The team consists of superhumans who usually have god-like powers to fight the villains and have avenged them in the best unimaginable way. 

Who is the strongest Avenger, you may ask then? Movie Insiderz has compiled a list of the best ones, without ranking, since we think everyone is unique in their own way and there is no competition. Instead, we’ve selected them based on their overall powers, both physical and mental abilities, as their strengths are too different to be compared fairly. 

Who is the strongest Avenger?

Thor

Thor is one of the strongest Avengers based on his own realization that his famous hammer, Mjolnir, isn’t the real source of his power; rather, it is his own self. This happened after he lost his hammer following the events of Thor: Ragnarok (2017), and he continued to fight with all his might in Love and Thunder (2022). 

Also known as Thor Odinson, he became a part of the Avengers team when he needed to stop his adopted brother Loki from invading New York City. The literal god of thunder has faced setbacks, such as losing an eye while fighting his sister Hela; he is still considered a full-on warlord who fought Frost Giants, Dark Elves, shadow creatures of Gorr the God-Butcher, and almost killed Thanos at the end of Avengers: Infinity War (2018). 

Vision

Vision is a synthezoid being who gets his power from the glowing rock in his head, the Mind Stone, one of the six Infinity Stones that Thanos was after. Ultron created Vision and was then brought to life by the combined efforts of Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, aka Hulk, and Thor. His body is composed of organic tissue and Vibranium, making him extremely durable. The stone in his head emits a laser beam and controls other kinds of powers, such as density manipulation. 

He is one of the Avengers who was considered worthy by Mjolnir besides Thor and Captain America. Though he has an unfathomable amount of power due to his powerfully durable body and the Mind Stone’s devastating energy, he was still killed by Thanos and brought back to life by the White Vision, which makes his powers a bit debatable. 

In the comics, he does not completely rely on the Mind Stone, as it doesn’t exist in the same way. His abilities come from advanced synthetic physiology, exceptional artificial intelligence that allows him to process information at incredible speeds, intangibility, and the Solar Jewel, making him a formidable member of the Avengers. 

Hulk

The Incredible Hulk (Bruce Banner) was once considered the most powerful Avenger, but due to his recent ups and downs, he has still managed to be on the list of one of the strongest Avengers. He has embraced his anger as his greatest strength since he is the most powerful in rage. 

Hulk’s greatest strength is also his biggest weakness since his power is based on an emotional state. Intense rage makes him reckless, and enemies can easily manipulate him by provoking him to make mistakes. He has had problems with communication, which led him to lose battles he shouldn’t have. 

Despite all of this, his strength does not have any upper limit. He possesses an extraordinary healing factor, adding to his legendary durability during nuclear explosions, battles with gods and cosmic beings. Defeating some of Marvel’s mightiest heroes, such as Thor and the Sentry, has earned Hulk a reputation as one of the strongest Avengers ever. 

Captain Marvel

Carol Danvers, better known as Captain Marvel, is one of the Avengers’ greatest powerhouses due to her connection to cosmic energy. She gains her powers after being exposed to the Space Stone, which grants her immense strength, tremendous durability, flight, and the ability to unleash devastating energy blasts. 

She destroyed an entire Kree fleet, a highly advanced space navy of the Kree Empire, from a militaristic alien civilization. She also tore through Thanos’s warship and resisted the Power Stone’s energy. 

Despite appearing in two films so far, the comics tell that her powers don’t come directly from an Infinity Stone. An explosion from Psyche-Magnitron that fused with her DNA transformed her into a human-Kree hybrid. The cosmic energy absorption and manipulation, flight at hypersonic speed during space travel, and enhanced stamina and healing, along with her Binary form, truly set her apart.  

Spider-Man

While there are other superior beings that rank higher than Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man, one of the strongest Avengers, he has a unique balance of physical and mental abilities that helps him gain a spot in this list. Though he is one of the youngest Avengers, his spider-powered physiology grants him superhuman strength, enormous agility, better reflexes, and impressive durability. 

He has one of the brightest minds since he is a gifted scientist and engineer. He has developed his own web-shooters, web fluid, and numerous specialized gadgets. Not as physically overwhelming as Hulk or Thor, but his quick strategic thinking helps him analyze his opponents, identify their weaknesses, and adapt his tactics on the fly, as we have seen in Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026) while dueling with Jean Grey. His improvisation abilities are phenomenal, as he uses his creativity and the environment to outsmart his enemies, possessing unbelievable resourcefulness over sheer brute force. 

Doctor Strange 

Previously, we added Doctor Strange to our list of strongest Marvel characters due to psychic abilities, including time travel, teleportation, astral projection, levitation, and dimensional travelling. His gift of exploring possible futures and reversing events makes him a reality-saving sorcerer, especially witnessed in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).

Also revered as the Sorcerer Supreme, changing rules right on the battlefield is a piece of cake for him. If superheroes have him by their side, the magical and interdimensional Avenger like Doctor Strange helps them defeat several cosmic threats in a jiffy. Even in comics, he has learned innumerable spells to summon powerful energies, create force fields, and counter supernatural beings, making him Marvel’s most versatile hero.  

Sentry

Bob Reynolds, or Sentry, is another immensely powerful Marvel character now proudly securing his place in the list here. He also has an emotional side like Hulk that transforms him into his darker version, the Void, as seen in Thunderbolts* (2025). The way he is depicted in the film makes him an ultimately powerful Avenger with seemingly endless abilities. 

The level of strength with which he manipulates energy is what a few Avengers can match. Sentry has near-invulnerability and a vast healing factor that make him a unique threat. His greatest threat is his own mind, though, as regulating his unstable emotions is a daunting task that could give rise to the destructive entity, the Void. 

The internal conflict in the form of the Void is his own threat that makes him different from most superheroes. His mental instability creates the alter-ego, which consumes New York in darkness. He can manipulate molecules, repair damaged matter, reshape objects, and even later, his own body. As per IGN, he is going to appear in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday (2026), and fans could even expect to cry in a brand-new series written by Paul Jenkins.  

Scarlet Witch

Wanda Maximoff, or Scarlet Witch, has a rare innate magic of changing the future and manipulating the Mind Stone, and the ancient cosmic force known as Chaos Magic. Her distinct comic and film adaptations give her unique origins, which tell tales of her going insane from the dark magic book, the Darkhold, and becoming a corrupted mother to reunite with her imaginary children, particularly witnessed in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022). 

Her dreamwalking ability demonstrates that she is not limited by boundaries, and reshaping reality according to her will gives her deadly powers. She reached the heights of her powers in Multiverse of Madness, which forced fans to think she might be using a fraction of what she is actually capable of. Controlling the minds of an entire town and defeating Thanos rightfully adds her to the list of the strongest Avengers.
