Keanu Reeves LEGO Movie Continues His Long-Standing Presence in the Animation Industry

Keanu Reeves likes to be connected with animation and family entertainment sides, for which fans have noticed that the pattern will continue in the future. Keanu Reeves Lego movie may be the latest project linked to the actor as the Hollywood star quietly builds a strong presence in the animation industry. 

According to Deadline, 2019’s Toy Story 4 director Josh Cooley is looking to team up with Keanu Reeves once again for the upcoming live-action hybrid Lego movie. Reeves is currently busy touring for his music band Dogstar’s album All in Now, as the tour kicked off on May 29. 

The film would be made for Universal Pictures, which hasn’t commented yet. Jill Wilfert and Ryan Christians would produce through The Lego Group. Plot details are not revealed yet, but it is known that the film will be a mix of live-action and animation. 

The studio gained rights to the film in 2020, and the filmmakers have been working things out since then. Directors and writers have been brainstorming and working on ways to create something suitable for Reeves’ character. In Toy Story 4, Reeves instantly agreed to play the character.

Reeves voiced the Duke Ka-boom character in Toy Story 4 and reprised the same character in the recently released Toy Story 5. Toy Story 4 won the Best Animated Feature Oscar as well. 

Reeves has been keeping himself busy in several animated projects, including an animated film adaptation of his own comic BRZRKR, an animated prequel of John Wick, and an upcoming animated feature named Hidari.

Based on one of the popular toy franchises of the world, the franchise was praised for its animation style, humor, and ability to transform a toy brand into a compelling storytelling art. 

The toy brand already had a loyal fanbase; hence, the film franchise didn’t fail at significantly boosting cultural relevance, generating merchandise, or video game tie-ins. The franchise solidified Hollywood’s obsession with making toy-based movies that usually end up as some of the most successful extensions of the fandom for years.
