Warner Bros’ film releases at CinemaCon 2026
The Revenge of La Llorna
Warner Bros. has set a theatrical release date for the sequel to The Curse of La Llorna (2019), titled The Revenge of La Llorna, for April 9, 2027. Directed by Santiago Menghini and produced by James Wan’s Atomic Monster, the star cast includes Jay Hernandez, Monica Raymund, and Raymond Cruz, returning as the knowledgeable Catholic priest, Rafael Olvera.
The first chapter, which was helmed by Michael Chaves, failed to impress the critics as well as the audience. It remains a risky bet for the sequel to do well at the box office, but the studio is confident enough with the craft.
Final Destination 7
After the mega-success of Final Destination 6, Warner Bros. has a date for Final Destination 7 for May 12, 2028. The Final Destination franchise is the third biggest horror franchise from New Line Cinema after The Conjuring and It.
The surprising part is that no director is attached to the project yet, despite the returning producers Craig Perry, Sheila Hanahan Taylor, Jon Watts, Dianne McGunigle, and Toby Emmerich.
Final Destination: Bloodlines (2025) was directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein from a story by Jon Watts, co-written with Guy Busick. The film saw the best franchise reboot opening, showing impressive results at the box office.
The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum
A quick look at TLOR: Hunt for Gollum was shown, and Gollum was keeping his story secret. Jamie Dornan will be playing Strider/Aragorn instead of Viggo Mortensen. Other casting news includes Andy Serkis as Gollum, Ian McKellen as Gandalf, Kate Winslet as Marigold, and many more.
The franchise is expanding with The Hunt for Gollum, which is set to release on December 17, 2027.
The End of Oak Street
Warner Bros. presents The End of Oak Street, which is expected to open on August 14, 2026. David Robert Mitchell takes the director’s chair for the story that centers on a family living in a typical suburban home. Their lives will be turned upside down with strange new events.
The trailer opened a few weeks ago, but a closer look was presented at CinemaCon. The main cast includes Anne Hathaway, Ewan McGregor, Christian Convery, Maisy Stella, and Chris Coy.
Practical Magic 2
A sequel to the 1998 cult classic, Practical Magic, is ready for a theatrical release on September 11, 2026. Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman were present at CinemaCon for the film’s introduction.
The actresses are reprising their roles as the Owen sisters in the flick directed by Susanne Bier. We will be seeing the sisters in their young adulthood, as Kidman’s character will have traded her life of adventure for a peaceful one. The calm won’t last when a mysterious figure arrives at their New England town with a new quest for them.
Digger
Tom Cruise and Birdman helmer Alejandro G. Innaritu were both present at CinemaCon to tease the film, Digger. The stakes for saving the world are high for Tom Cruise since he is the one who unleashed a disaster.
Reports from the CinemaCon attendees indicate that the footage talks about a “five-foot crack,” and Cruise’s character has let loose an environmental disaster via his business activities. Now, the most powerful man in the world gets on his feet to prove his humanity before everything is destroyed.
Ocean’s prequel
Warner Bros. will distribute an Ocean’s prequel on June 25, 2027, which stars Margot Robbie. Bradley Cooper is set to write, direct, and star in the film. The film does not have a title yet, but it surely has a release date.
Warner Bros. launched the Oceans franchise in 2001, which was a big hit. George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, and Matt Damon were the well-known stars attached to Soderbergh’s film trilogy. We don’t know yet whether any one of them will be in the prequel or not.
Supergirl
Peter Safran (DC Studio co-head), Milly Alcock, and Jason Momoa presented Supergirl on CinemaCon’s stage. An extended sequence from the film was premiered, after which Alcock admitted that this journey had been “transformative” for her.
Jason Momoa isn’t new to DC Comics, as he previously played Aquaman, but having played Lobo in Supergirl, he called it a “dream come true.”
Directed by Craig Gillespie, the film will land in theaters on June 26, 2026.
Clayface
Warner Bros. and DC Studios shared the first chilling footage of Clayface at CinemaCon, and Peter Safran was there to do the honors. DC’s body horror flick is releasing on October 23, 2026.
Tom Rhys Harries plays the titular character, who is not famous yet and wants to be a top-tier face of Hollywood. The story delves deeper into his facing an accident that turns him into a disfigured character.
Directed by James Watkins, the film also includes Naomi Ackie, David Dencik, Max Minghella, and Eddie Marsan. Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini penned the script, and The Batman II writer-director Matt Reeves produced it alongside Lynn Harris, James Gunn, and Safran.
Dune 3
Dune 3 kicked things off by showing a seven-minute opening scene, and it hit hard. Director Denis Villeneuve, Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, and Jason Momoa took the stage for the launch.
The story takes place 17 years after Dune 2’s (2024) events. The film will be a conclusion to Dune’s trilogy and will open in theaters on December 18, 2026.
Mortal Kombat II
Warner Bros. further treated attendees by extending the same special experience to them. A special fight sequence from the video game adaptation, Mortal Kombat II, was presented. The movie is set to release theatrically on May 15, 2026.
Simon McQuoid is back to direct the sequel with returning stars Lewis Tan as MMA fighter Cole Young, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, and many more. New additions include Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, Adeline Rudolph as Princess Kitana, Tati Gabrielle as Jade, and a bunch more.
Evil Dead Burn and Evil Dead Wrath
Warner Bros. grabbed the spotlight with its future slate of Evil Dead: Burn and Evil Dead: Wrath. Directed by Sebastien Vaicek, Evil Dead: Burn hits theaters on July 24, 2026. The trailer was unveiled at CinemaCon, but it has not been released online yet.
The film’s plot is under wraps. The cast includes Souheila Yacoub, Hunter Doohan, Luciane Buchanan, and more.
Hot off the success of Evil Dead Rise (2023), directed by Lee Cronin, Burn is one of the most anticipated horror films of the year, which will have a connected universe but a new story and new storyline.
Sam Raimi introduced Evil Dead: Wrath with a short video at CinemaCon. Warner Bros confirmed it will release it next year.
Zach Cregger’s Weapons spin-off ‘Gladys’
Warner has set the release date for two of Cregger’s films in 2028. One of them is a Weapons spin-off, laying the groundwork of a prequel story for Aunt Gladys.
Cregger is not directing the film but will produce with Roy Lee and co-write the pic with Zach Shields.
Zach Cregger’s ‘The Flood’
Another Cregger film, a sci-fi thriller titled The Flood, will be released by Warner Bros. on August 11, 2028. It marks the second Cregger film slated for release in 2028.
Cregger is writing and directing the film.
Sony’s film releases at CinemaCon 2026
Sony’s Jumanji: Open World
Sony Pictures officially unveiled the title for its next Jumanji film at CinemaCon, called Jumanji: Open World. Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, and Jack Black were on stage to present the new movie along with its first trailer.
The trailer hasn’t been released online, but there was one big twist: Jumanji has crossed over into the real world. It gives a tiny hint of the story as well. Yay!
Jumanji: Open World will be released in theaters on December 25, 2026.
The Social Reckoning
The trailer of the companion piece of the Oscar-winning drama, The Social Network (2010), was unveiled at CinemaCon 2026. Aaron Sorkin directs the film from his own script, to be released on October 9, 2026.
Where The Social Network was based on the story of Facebook, adapting Ben Mezrich’s book The Accidental Billionaires, The Social Reckoning is more of a thriller. The film follows the true story of Frances Haugen (played by Mikey Madison), a young Facebook engineer who assists a Wall Street journalist, Jeff Horwitz (Jeremy Allen White), in whistleblowing on the company’s well-kept secrets.
Klara and the Sun
Sony Pictures announced a film adaptation of the novel Klara and the Sun. The novel was originally written by Kazuo Ishiguro and is directed by Taika Waititi.
The film is to be released on October 23, 2026, and its first trailer was shown at CinemaCon. The sci-fi dystopian drama tells the story of a robot, portrayed by Jenna Ortega, who helped heal a family.
Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil reboot
A teaser was premiered at CinemaCon for Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil reboot. The director of Weapons, Barbarian, and the upcoming Gladys prequel film declared that he has played “a shitload of Resident Evil” games and has tried his best to stay as close to the game as possible.
According to Fangoria, the footage revealed at CinemaCon showed Austin Abrams (Weapons) walking towards the door of a house; the door opens upon his call, where he asks for help. He wants to make a call because his car broke down. The phone goes to voicemail. Then, he is seen running amidst the mayhem of falling bodies, zombies locked in a room, and searching for weapons himself.
Less of the gore was witnessed by those who were present at the event. Sony will distribute the film theatrically on September 18, 2026.
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse
Sony Pictures announced at CinemaCon that Beyond the Spider-Verse will be released on June 4, 2027. The first photos and short footage were also shown to the attendees, where the filmmakers assured that the delay was to ensure the film hits the right mark.
The film is definitely made for the big screen, as it aims to break the boundaries of animation yet again. The story will take off from where Across the Spider-Verse (2023) left off. Gwen Stacy and Miles Morales could begin to doubt whether they and their friends are enough to save the world.
Directed by Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson, the screenplay is adapted by Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and David Callaham. Producers enlist names like Phil Lord, Chris Miller, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Jinko Gotoh. Executive producers are Aditya Sood and Christina Steinberg.
Grandgear
The director of the Beast movie will be making his English-language debut with Grandgear, dropping on February 18, 2028, under Sony Pictures’ distribution. In the CinemaCon presentation, the news broke about Yamazaki’s Grandgear with test footage.
The movie hasn’t started filming, and the cast is yet to be confirmed. It will focus on large-scale mech-versus-kaiju or robot-versus-robot combat.
J.J. Abrams’ production company Bad Robot is on board with Yamazaki writing and directing the project.
The Legend of Zelda
Directed by Wes Ball, the live-action film based on the video game series, The Legend of Zelda, wrapped production in April 2026 and is scheduled for release on May 7, 2027, under Sony Pictures’ distribution.
These brief details were disclosed at CinemaCon without any new information on plot, footage, or any first-look images. Even the cast of the film is still kept hush-hush.
Neon’s film releases at CinemaCon 2026
Hokum
Neon has been solidifying its place as a prominent film distributor since its inception in 2017. Within a short timespan, the studio is clear in what it wants and what it delivers. A strong contender in bringing out the best horror and thriller films, it once again unmasked Hokum, slated for a theatrical release on May 1, 2026.
The trailer has already been released online, showing the story of Adam Scott’s character, a novelist who visits a remote inn, which is rumored to be haunted by a witch. Adam Scott took to the stage at CinemaCon to reveal more about the film.
He hinted at the story being as unbelievable as it could be. He promised that the film’s moments would linger with viewers even after they leave the theater.
Toho’s film releases at CinemaCon 2026
Godzilla Minus Zero
Takashi Yamazaki helms the next Godzilla movie, named Godzilla Minus Zero. It is the first-ever Japanese project filmed for IMAX. This will be Toho’s 34th Godzilla film since 1954.
The early online release of the trailer shows the events taking place in 1949, where Kaiju is wreaking havoc on New York City. Even the Statue of Liberty seems small when the King of Monsters stands beside it.
GKIDS, acquired by Toho in 2024, handled the distribution and scheduled the film for a wide release on November 6, 2026.
